MASSAPEDIA NEWS - The increasing number of children free breakfast at school has prompted the provision of breakfast for all children in low-income communities. This raises concerns that more children breakfast twice, once at home and once at school, thereby increasing the risk of obesity.

A new study finds that it is not the children who ate breakfast twice, but those who do not have breakfast at all, which would tend to be overweight. In other words, twice the breakfast is better than not at all, said Marlene Schwartz of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity, University of Connecticut, as reported by the Washington Post.

"Our study proves that it is important to make sure as many children have a healthy breakfast. Low-income people will be greatly assisted if it gets broad access to a healthy breakfast, "said Schwartz, one of the research team.

Schwartz emphasized the free breakfast at school must meet nutritional guidelines from the state.

"It does not mean these children a breakfast of two donuts," said Schwartz. "Breakfast at school is very healthy. Contain fruit, low milk is weak, and whole grains. So it can be considered a healthy snack. "

No less than 12 million children receive free or reduced lunch at discounted prices during the academic year 2014-2015, according to the Food Research and Action Center.   4. My grandmother always says that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So I make sure I give healthy breakfast to my child but making him eat is a struggle because that's how kids are!
