Panama Law Firm Claims As the Victims of Hacking - Panama Papers Leak


MASSAPEDIA NEWS - The law firm based in Panama, Mossack Fonseca is in the spotlight following the leaking of millions of documents that reveal the firm and investment wealth hidden world leaders and celebrities, claims it is the victim of hacking attacks outside the company and file a complaint with the state prosecutor.


In an interview with Reuters, one of the founders Mossack Fonseca, Ramon Fonseca said the company which specializes in setting up a shell company did not violate any law and all the legal operation of this company. He claimed Integration was never destroyed documents or help someone avoid taxes as well as money laundering.


Fonseca stated quote email content company, which was published in the investigation of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and investigated by more than 100 media organizations, is a quote taken out of context and misinterpreted.


"We ruled out the possibility of hacking from inside. It's not a leak. This is a hack," said Fonseca, 63, at the company headquarters in the business district of Panama City.

"We had allegations and will investigate it," he said, without giving further explanation.

"We have made a complaint related to the Attorney General's office, and no governmental study this issue," said Fonseca added.


Various countries have already started an investigation about the possibility of financial errors by a number of world leaders and politicians in power contained in 11.5 million leaked documents called "Panama Papers." The documents disclose financial data offshore company set up by the law firm for four decades.

He regrets the disclosure of this document which he described as the practice of journalism and sensationalism activism.

"The only crime that has been proven is hacking," said Fonseca. "No one is talking about it, but it is news."


Meanwhile, related to the Panama Papers, France announced it would again put Panama in the black list of uncooperative tax jurisdictions.

Panama Government threatened to threaten and block foreign investment if the French do that step.
