Three Important Aspects Election Evaluation of Bawaslu

MASSAPEDIA NEWS - Chairman of the Supervisory Board Election Muhammad underlines three important aspects to note the evaluation of the presidential election in 2014.

The first point to be highlighted Muhammad came from voters aspect. He considers the event the 2014 elections are still not able to deliver a democratic election for voters Indoneia.

"New elections can be said to be democratic when people are free from the pressure to come to the polls," said Muhammad when discussing the evaluation of the 2014 election in Jakarta, Monday (25/8).

Muhammad stressed Elections should be democratic party so that citizens vote with independence without intimidation. "In Indonesia, which should enjoy the atmosphere can not be felt. That there is even a scourge," said Muhammad.

Muhammad said that the influence of the local bureaucracy is still very strong. Not infrequently the local elites put pressure on the voters. "The most concrete example of Papua," said Muhammad. "The case there be a material dispute of the most widely debated in the Constitutional Court."

The second aspect to note Bawaslu evaluation is the organizer and participants of the election. Muhammad said, Bawaslu has many records related to two elements.

Bawaslu give apresiai to the Commission which has given a breakdown of these elections for successfully pursing participants into 12 parties. But he also stressed there are still many shortcomings of the organizers. "Evidently there are hundreds of complaints from participants about the offense, in particular the code of conduct, the KPU," said Muhammad.

Election-related participants, Muhammad highlights a number of violations of political parties, especially regarding criminal offenses and money politics. "Bad habits that seem to still not be separated from the constellation of this election," he said.

The last aspect, and most importantly according to Muhammad, is a matter of law. He looked at the current electoral legal order can not realize the ideals of democratic politics.

"DPR halfheartedly gives authority to Bawaslu as election organizers," said Muhammad. He claimed to have delivered the complaint to the Commission II of the Act 15 which has only limited authority Bawaslu recommendation in response to a criminal offense.

Muhammad admitted that there are many recommendations related to the criminal offense countered by investigators in the police. They reasoned, said Muhammad, all matters relating to criminal provisions no longer ranahnya Bawaslu, but the authority of the investigators.

"We can not do much. Like the detachable head, but its tail is retained," said Muhammad.

Muhammad hoped that all reports related administrative violations, criminal, and ethics can be completed by the Election Supervisory Committee. Because if they only rely on the police investigator, all the recommendations of the offense by itself aka stalled.

"People would happen did not know that there are many recommendations that hangs criminal offenses in the police," said Muhammad.
