Nepal's Plane has Found Shattered
MASSAPEDIA NEWS - Plane with small passengers that disappeared in Nepal has been found to be shattered, Wednesday (24/2). All passengers and crew totaling 21 people died.
Twin Otter plane that lost contact after eight minutes on the air on a flight that should have lasted 19 minutes from Pokhara to Jomsom in the Himalayas.
"The plane broke into pieces. There were no survivors," said the officer, Bishwaraj Khadka, told Reuters from Myagdi, the nearest town from the crash site.
The plane was found after authorities received a notification from Myagdi citizens who claimed to see the flames from the forest. When traced, it turns out the fire originated from the airline Tara Air plane was missing.
The plane was carrying 18 passengers and three crew, said a spokeswoman Tara Air, Bhim Rai. Two of the passengers were foreigners, from China and Kuwait.
The cause of the accident is not yet known. Rai said that sunny weather on Wednesday morning when the plane took off.
He continued, the new Twin Otter aircraft was imported from Canada last September.
The plane flew region is notoriously dangerous because of the mountainous terrain, windy and cold temperatures.
Previously, in 2012, the airline Agni Air plane that flew the same route also fell, killing 15 people. Six passengers on the plane survived.
At that time there was a technical problem that made the plane could not land at Jomsom normal so the pilot decided to turn back to Pokhara. But on the way, the plane fell to the ground.
