Bernie Sanders Didn't Attend AIPAC, Supporting Palestinian Sovereignty
MASSAPEDIA NEWS - Bernie Sanders is the only presidential candidate of the United States refused to attend the forum lobbyists Israel, AIPAC. The only Jewish candidate in the US elections is even campaigning in Utah and spoke about his support for Palestinian independence at the bottom of a two-state solution.
USA Today reported on Monday (21/3), the Democratic candidate, said the US and Israel as the two countries that are friends to be "honest and open" about their differences. US, Sanders said, should not only friendly to Israel but also the Palestinians.
Sanders called two-state solution as the only way to achieve peace in the Middle East.
Palestinian men under 74 years, must recognize Israel's sovereignty and stop attacks against the Jewish state. Israel also must ensure the safety of Palestinians, to stop the blockade of Gaza, and stop response "disproportionate" for any attack Palestinians.
Rival Hillary Clinton also touched on the annexation of an area of over 200 hectares in the West Bank by Israel which, according to Sanders "unreasonable". He also criticized the suspension of the payment of taxes by Israel against the Palestinians.
"This is a difficult topic. This issue is difficult spoken by most Americans and the Israelis. But for me it is clear, the path to peace is to look for similarities in the values of humanity to make difficult decisions but fair," said Sanders.
Sanders was also invited to the forum AIPAC in Washington, but he rejected it on the grounds clashed with his campaign schedule in Utah. Vermont Senator offers speech by recording over the Internet, but the committee rejected AIPAC forum.
All candidates attended and spoke at the forum. There is Donald Trump, John Kasich, and Republican Ted Cruz. And Democrat Hillary Clinton only.
As the first Jew to win the primary election candidates for President of the United States, Sanders said that he was the only candidate who has a personal bond with Israel. He's lived in the socialist Jewish settlements in Israel, or kibbutz, after graduating from the University of Chicago.
Sanders is usually talking about the economy, in a speech 30 minutes in Utah said Gulf countries should be more responsible and involved in the fight against ISIS.
He also supports the US nuclear deal with Iran. The deal that led to the abolition of the sanctions and embargo Iran vehemently denied by AIPAC and referred to as one of the failings of the Israeli lobby in the US.
Sanders emphasized that the US must re-apply sanctions if Iran break a promise.
"I do not accept the idea that pro-Israel stance must oppose the deal. Preventing Iran from getting nuclear weapons not only strengthen US security, but also the security of Israel," he said.
