Van Gaal Complain About Attitude Mass Media England
Ahead of the game host Arsenal, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal complained about reporting by the mass media in the United Kingdom on his team and rivals, Manchester City.
Van Gaal feels the media has reported unfair between his team and ManCity, especially since December last year when Manchester United slipped from the top of the league and were knocked out of the Champions League.
"This is football, eh. You can win, lose, you can draw," said Van Gaal told a news conference ahead of the match against Arsenal, as quoted by Four Four Two, Saturday (27/2).
It diutarakannya answering reporters' questions that compare his team with ManCity. MU currently are fifth in the Premier League, four points adrift of ManCity who are one stripe on it. Not only that, ManCity also successfully competed in the last 16 of the Champions League, while Manchester United were knocked to the last 32 of the Europa League.
When another reporter asked about the inconsistency of Manchester's performance this season, Van Gaal said, "The media was inconsistent. That's the media. This is the media."
"[Then] Manchester City's 5-1 defeat against Chelsea. What then?"
The journalist who asked then answer back that ManCity manager, Manuel Pellegrini put out a team that dominated the young players when they lost to Chelsea, and Van Gaal replied it was also the one he did for the major players to injury.
"But we did not lose by such a difference. You have to analyze first the results of Manchester United - we only lost once, 3-0, against Arsenal, and they are in a different level," said Van Gaal.
"We had many preserve of bad this year but we are still in three tournaments [Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup] and everything can still be fought. It was not as bad as some media write or preach to the supporters. I hope the fans will understand that."
Ahead of the game host Arsenal, Van Gaal confirmed that Antonio Valencia and Marouane Fellaini is recovering. However, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney doubtful. Martial suffered a hamstring problem ahead of the game when the second leg against FC Midtjyland middle of this week (25/2).
Previously, Rooney was sidelined due to injury. Now, in the line of attack, Van Gaal could take advantage of Juan Mata, Jese Lingard, and Memphis Depay coated young striker Marcus Rashford who scored two goals in the match this midweek.
