Mass Media Asked to Help Gather Evidence


The dispute between the General Election Commission (KPU) with the center of the Regional Board of Gerindra Jakarta rolling.

After KPU chairman Husni Kamil Manik reported Gerindra Jakarta DPD Chairman, Muhammad Taufik to the police on suspicion of kidnapping threats, Gerindra party behind the Commission reported on Tuesday (12/8) with charges of libel and defamation.

Police through the Police Headquarters Public Relations Division Inspector General of Police Ronny Sompie said until now is still trying to collect evidence for additional investigations, including asking the mass media took part in investigating this case.

"In addition, journalists can testify," said Ronny at Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Monday (18/8).

Ronny adding that police also work closely with editors in the mass media for recording or writing concerning verify that they made about the feud and DPD Gerindra KPU Jakarta. "For those who know what is happening on the ground so they can be used as a witness," he said.

Items of evidence obtained by police will be analyzed and amplified by some experts that would eventually turn into evidence. Experts used is a linguist and criminal experts to see if the words on the record, including a criminal act or not.

Unfortunately, until now the police have not received sufficient evidence to continue the examination. But that does not mean the police to stop the investigation. "The investigators knew what they had to do and we are constantly trying to find," he said.

In addition to searching, the police also work closely with editors in the mass media to gather all the evidence that might be found in their media.

From the editor in chief, Ronny said, ready to cooperate with the police. One of them with a request for information to the journalists who do reporting is also writing about the allegations of the parties concerned.
