John Terry Mentioned Hiddink, He's Good for Young Players
Chelsea central defender and captain, John Terry, said he was pleased with the progress shown by the young players under Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink. He also hopes Chelsea will benefit from the Blues academy.
Since Hiddink took over as Chelsea coach, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has played five times as a substitute, while Bertrand Traore and Kenedy has scored in the Premier League.
U-18 captain Chelsea, Jacke Clarke-Salter, also now train with the first team.
"It's nice to see it, because at some time behind Chelsea has always been criticized not able to develop young players," Terry said at the award ceremony of London football.
"Our manager also pointed out that he has confidence in the young players. He rotates in big matches to give them a chance, and most importantly they (young players) also did well."
John Terry admitted he often saw players U-10 to U-18 Chelsea play and rate them great. Similarly, with Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea owner, who wants his team started to produce young players.
"We are also doing great in the Youth League [Uefa] and won it last year. So we can say the Academy of quality."
Terry himself was fighting with his own fitness so he could play in the second leg of the Champions League last 16 against Paris Saint Germain. Chelsea lost 1-2 in Paris last month, but Terry believes they will qualify for the next round.
"We never recovered from worse results in the past. With the score still 2-1 we would still have a good chance at home."
