NASA Wants to Fend off the Asteroid with the Nuclear

MASSAPEDIA NEWS - US space agency, NASA reported to have collaborated with the National Nuclear Security Administration to protect the Earth from disaster that came from outer space.

National Nuclear Security Administration is a branch of the US Department of Energy. Both were independently researched how to use nukes to deflect comets, asteroids, and meteors.

As reported by the New York Times, the cooperation is expected to facilitate NASA rocket and nuclear experts to bring together knowledge and their abilities.

The plan, they would classify potential threats and determine ways to divert or deflect a space object.

Scientists regard, small-sized space rock will not result in major damage. While the asteroid that destroyed the dinosaurs ancient civilizations believed by scientists to be a threat to Earth in the future.

A number of medium-sized asteroids and comets typically a diameter of between 49 meters and 149 meters. Well, the computer simulation shows that humans are believed to destroy a medium-sized space object with nuclear.

However, scientists still have to pay attention to rubble potentially aggravate the situation and everything depends on the distance of asteroids from Earth when it exploded.

In addition to using nuclear bombs presence is also considered to be useful to deflect asteroids. However it seems NASA also relies on a 2007 study indicated that nuclear is the best solution as a weapon against space objects.
